"Powerlifting Basics, Texas-Style"
The Adventures of Lope Delk by Paul Kelso
Down in east Texas, on the Old Kilgore highway (half way between Tyler and Kilgore) there lives a fella named Lope
(short for "Antelope") Delk.
-- Lope's the
kind of guy you don't see much these days. He still listens to Buck Owens, wears flannel shirts and drives an old pickup truck which
only gets the AM radio stations...
He's a pretty strong guy, rugged and lean from years of working in the
oil fields and lumberjacking... and he's still interested in adding a few pounds to his best bench press when he can.
Well ol' Lope runs a local roadhouse called the "Scoot N' Boot" -- which also happens to be the unofficial home of the Wampus Cat Weight
Club... and you wouldn't believe all the craziness that happens 'round that place. If there's two things that they take seriously down in Texas it's liftin' weights and
havin' a good time -- and you'll find plenty of both at the Scoot N' Boot.
"Texad Madness and Powerlifting" -- is about what sums it up: and you can read all about it, (and learn a thing or two about
trainin') in Powerlifting Basics, Texas-Style.
Along the way you'll get to meet "Coach" Bubba Koltuniak, the
bench press "hardhead," that fiery redhead LaVonda Sue Bradley, the "Big Kid" from Houston, Reverend Harley,
and a whole other cast of crazy characters... but this is no sitcom.

The adventures of Lope Delk and the whole crew, of course, are the fictional creations of Paul Kelso, the long-time strength author whose articles have appeared in
Hard Gainer, Iron Man and Powerlifting USA. Kelso has been a part of the Iron Game since the early 1950's as a trainee, competitor, coach and correspondent.
While Lope Delk and the gang are
fictional, all these stories are based on real events -- and, more importantly, real results.
"The Adventures of Lope Delk" is based on many of Kelso's experiences in training over the last
five decades. There's plenty of no-nonsense training
info for training beginners, veterans and coaches alike. As someone who is serious about training I will tell you that
this one of the most entertaining training books that I've ever
read...
My copy is dog-eared from flipping through it so many times -- but it never gets old, an
d I always end up picking up something I had previously missed.
I know that you will enjoy reading too... get your copy now!
Train Hard.
